Mission Statement

The Building Departments mission is to protect and promote public health, safety, morals and general welfare for all residents in the Town of Batavia. We strive to achieve these goals by guiding future growth and development in accordance with the comprehensive land use plan. Our aim is to provide adequate light, air and privacy, to promote safety from fire, flood and other dangers. We extend our services to protect and conserve the value of land in various districts and to prevent the pollution of streams, ponds and to preserve the integrity, stability, and beauty of the community.


Residential

Definition: One and two family dwellings and townhouses not more than three stories above-grade in height with a separate means of egress and their accessory structures

Residential Forms:


Note: All Manufactured and Mobile home applicants must have an attached letter from Management of the mobile home park approving the work listed on the application.


Commercial

Definition: Real estate approved and designed for retail or wholesale trade, hotel, restaurant, offices, clinics, warehouses, light manufacturing, Industrial and other such uses but not for residential purposes.
